Through membership in STANDING FIRM, we hope employers will become motivated to:

RECOGNIZE partner violence as an issue with bottom line effects on company productivity and security.

RESPOND appropriately from a menu of action steps to initiate or upgrade policies, improve employee awareness, train leaders and HR professionals to intervene effectively, prepare security staff to recognize and respond to workplace threats from batterers, and other best practices actions.

Know how to REFER to existing community resources for services that the employer does not have the expertise or ability to provide.

STANDING FIRM is a national program of Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh.

Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh began its mission to create a safe environment for women more than 40 years ago. It was founded as one of the first six shelters for battered women in the United States.

Today, Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh offers support and aid to more than 6,000 individuals each year, and continues to remain one of the leading regional programs for victims of domestic abuse and intimate partner violence.
