Safety – Justice – Peace
As a thank you to every organization in our STANDING FIRM member community and those individuals who have worked to create a supportive culture for employee survivors of Intimate Partner Violence within their organization, we have created this DVAM Toolkit. This year’s 2026 Domestic Violence Awareness Toolkit is designed to provide your organization with suggestions and easy to use materials. We encourage you to engage your employees and groups to plan to use the materials provided in a creative way to raise awareness of domestic violence and build support for survivors everywhere.
Contact (contactsf@standing-firm.org) STANDING FIRM to help you plan!
Raising Awareness
- Posters and informational materials signal that help and hope are available to survivors in the workplace. We provide links to materials that can be downloaded and printed year-round. (October is a good time to refresh these materials.)
- Provide and inspirational message in your email signatures.
Providing Resources
Making employees aware of both internal and external resources for DV help builds support for survivors and all employees. We provide links to local and national external resources. Both internal and external resources can be used on company portals, websites, and printed materials.
Social Media Graphics
STANDING FIRM provides ready-made graphics to use on your intraweb or your social media channels showing your commitment to the cause.
Volunteering
This is a great way to foster awareness and to provide time and talent to those navigating their survivor journeys. WC&S welcomes you not only during October, but all year long.
Educating & Discussing
We invite you to reach out to STANDING FIRM to schedule a Lunch & Learn for your managers and/or staff.
- Utilize our eLearning Modules for Management & Staff
- Schedule a Lunch & Learn
- Consider holding a Coffee Chat to promote healthy discussions

Organizational Community Building Activities
STANDING FIRM suggests incorporating one or more of the following to get started:
- Hold a wellness fair for employees. Invite your EAP, local health wellness providers, local restaurants, sports/spa venues, and more to table.
- Don’t forget to include STANDING FIRM and Women’s Center & Shelter to meet your tabling needs (contactsf@standing-firm.org).
- Host a book club or create a library in one of your common areas. Some suggestions to get started:
- No Visible Bruises by Rachel Louise Snyder
- In the Drean House by Carmen Maria Machado
- Scared by Silent-Mildred Muhammad
- Behind the Mask A Survivor’s Story by Vanessa Ford-Taylor
- Maid by Stephanie Land
- Host a Wear Purple Day: Since 1981, the third Thursday of October has become nationally recognized as Purple Thursday where people nationwide are encouraged to wear purple to increase awareness for domestic violence. It is also an easy way for people to show their commitment to promoting healthy relationships. On October 15th (or any Thursday that works for your organization), ask your employees to participate in #PurpleThursday and display your photos on social media or have staff complete the signs and share pictures on your socials.
